A magnetic stripe, or magstripe, is a tool for storing data. There are multiple types of magstripes, but the most common ones are LoCo and the HiCo. These terms describe the coercivity and shows how strong the magnetic field is on the carrier.
Hico has a higher coercivity than LoCo (hence the name). As a result, the Hico is used for security applications and long-term use. LoCo cards are good for short-term applications where security and sustainability are less important, like entry cards for hotel rooms.
Magstripe are available in varieties between 300 and 2750 Oe and in the colours brown, black or silver.
